The reason these stay unfixed is that, in Oracle Cloud HCM, a payslip is a BI Publisher layout. Changing it means XSL-FO or a template developer, a deployment, a test, and a nervous wait to see whether anything broke. So the payslip stays as it is, year after year.
What is DesignX?
DesignX is a custom payslip designer for Oracle Cloud HCM. Your payroll or HR team designs the payslip in a browser. DesignX turns that design into an Oracle layout, deploys it, test-renders it and only then makes it live. Employees get a payslip that looks the way you want, and nobody writes a line of XSL-FO.
How does DesignX use your own Oracle elements?
No two Oracle environments have the same set of earning and deduction elements. One client might have a few dozen. In one of our test environments DesignX read 745. A designer that assumes a standard list is no use to either of them.
DesignX reads the element list from the client’s own environment. You can then group elements and apply simple rules to one element, a group or all of them. Hide a line when it is zero. Show Dental and Vision as a single Medical row without changing the total. Rename an element so it makes sense to an employee rather than to a payroll analyst.
What can you customise on an Oracle payslip with DesignX?
- Layout: drag and drop the header, net pay tile, employee details, sections and links into the order you want.
- Columns: choose one, two or three columns for each section, so a long list of earnings does not run off the page.
- Links: add links to Oracle or to any other site, such as an HR help desk. They stay clickable in the PDF.
- Brand: colours, and a logo for each employer in the group.
How does DesignX deploy payslip changes safely?
Every design is built, deployed and test-rendered in Oracle before it replaces anything. If the test fails, DesignX rolls back automatically and the current payslip carries on as normal. DesignX also finds your Oracle server address from Oracle itself, so moving from test to production does not mean editing links by hand.
Does DesignX work for multi-country payroll?
Yes. Payslips differ by country: different elements, different currencies, different conventions. DesignX uses each client’s legislation and currency to format amounts correctly, and we have checked it against live UK, US, India and China payslips from Oracle.
Who can see which payslips?
DesignX has separate manager and employee access. Employees sign in and see only their own payslips, and that is enforced on the server rather than just hidden on screen. Generate and deploy actions are written to an audit log so you can see who did what.
